Access Assessment: Audio Studio Control Room

Prior to booking a studio, users are required to successfully complete a brief studio-specific assessment. Users participating in this assessment must show proficienty in basic studio workflows, including: setting up microphones, signal routing, cue systems and setting up and saving a recording session using Pro Tools. Required Skills: Introductory knowledge of the Pro Tools environment, signal flow and effects processing. Experience with microphones, signal routing and cue systems. Recommended Prerequisites: Fundamentals of Sound for Audio Engineering, Pro Tools Levels 1-4, Audio Equipment Training: Microphones, Audio Equipment Training: Studio Signal Routing Level 1, Audio Equipment Training: Studio Signal Routing Level 2 and Assessment Prep: Audio Studio Control Room. Assessment Registration Requirement: To register for this assessment, cardholder must have credentials to book the Live Room and must be at least 18 years of age. Juveniles under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.

Access Assessment: Audio Studio Live Room

Prior to booking a studio, users are required to successfully complete a brief studio-specific assessment. Users participating in this assessment must show proficiency in using the equipment prior to booking the Audio Studio Live Room. A Live Room booking does not include access to the Control Room, the C24 Control Surface, or Pro Tools software. Recordings made in the Live Room do not provide a file that allows separate channel editing. Prior to the assessment, students will become familiar with the basics of using a live mixer to record audio in a studio environment. ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: To register for this assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center and must be at least 18 years of age. Juveniles under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.

Access Assessment: Photo Studio

Prior to booking a studio, users are required to successfully complete a brief studio-specific assessment. Users participating in this assessment must show proficiency in using the photo studio equipment. ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: To register for this assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center, Photo Studio Orientation and must be at least 18 years of age. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.

Access Assessment: Video Studio

Prior to booking a studio, users are required to successfully complete a brief studio-specific assessment. Users participating in this assessment must show proficienty in the basic studio workflows, including: ATEM Television Switcher software, PTZ Camera, Lightboard, and the Clear-Com. Required Skills: Basic knowledge of ATEM Software Control Recommended Prerequisites: Video Studio Control Room 1 and 2 ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: To register for this assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center and must be at least 18 years of age. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.

All About Dynamic Processors

This class will introduce signal routing in the studio, including how to send cues and use the talk-back system. This class helps prepare students for the Audio Assessment covering these topics.

This class will introduce students signal routing using Pro Tools 11 in the studio, including how to record microphone signals to tracks, import audio and save files to various media. This class helps prepare students for the Audio Assessment covering these topics.

Driving Simulator Orientation & Assessment

Video Studio Orientation

Tour the Melrose Center Video Studio in this introductory class. Learn about the Melrose Center’s video production equipment, class course track, assessment, and everything leading to and after studio reservations. Orientation ends with a chroma key green screen demo of the ATEM multi-camera switcher.

Video Studio: Open Session

Get hands-on experience with our Video Production Instructors shooting an instructional video. Practice studio lighting, camera, and audio set-up in this four hour Video Studio Open Session. Required Skills: Prior attendance at a Melrose Center Video Production class dictates crew position. Open sessions build on class knowledge.
