To celebrate the Melrose Center’s 10th Anniversary, we’re bringing back the Melrose Awards for 2024! The new extended submission deadline is September 15. The winners will be announced at a Melrose Awards Presentation on November 9.

Contest Rules & Eligibility Requirements

  • Participants must have completed the Melrose Center General Orientation.
  • The contest is open to all ages. Entries for contestants under the age of 18 must be submitted by a guardian.
  • The project must be the participants’ original creation.
  • The project needs to have been at least partially created using Melrose Center resources between January 1, 2020 and September 15, 2024. AI tools may only be used to enhance a project, not to create the work itself.
  • The project can be created by more than one person, but must be submitted by a designated adult member of the group.
  • Projects serving as crowdsourcing will not be accepted.
  • Projects must be submitted in the form of a web address that leads directly to the image, audio file, video, etc. Access to the file must not require a login.
  • Limit one entry per category.
  • OCLS staff and immediate family are not eligible.
  • The library reserves the right to disqualify an entry.
  • The library reserves the right to not have an award winner in a category.

Labor Day Closure

Orange County Library System will be closed Sunday, September 1 and Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day. All locations will resume normal hours on Tuesday, September 3.

Branch Closures

North Orange Branch is closed for repair, with an undetermined reopening date. Fairview Shores Branch will close Monday, September 9, for minor improvements. Learn more about the branch closures >
