Every year, the Orange County Library System’s Summer Reading Program grows. It’s a labor of love for us to create the hundreds of camps, events, classes and educational opportunities that help kids continue to learn over the summer. This is important because studies show that kids who don’t participate in educational activities in summer don’t retain as much of the information they learn in school. We give parents and caregivers a free, easy way to keep their kids from experiencing that so-called “summer slide” that can result in lower grades during the school year.

But learning – and reading – isn’t just for kids. Adults deserve a chance to enrich their lives with free, accessible library programs, too. That’s why we also put so much emphasis on creating a high-quality Adult Summer Reading Program for our grown-up customers.

All summer long, our libraries host book clubs, art classes, fiber arts classes and special events for adults. You can also log your reading and event attendance for a chance to win prizes when summer is over.

Our tagline at the Orange County Library System is Learn. Grow. Connect. Our Summer Reading Program gives library cardholders of all ages ways to learn, grow and connect with ideas, technology and with one another. For more information, stop by a library location, or visit ocls.info/SRP, where you can browse information on all of our Summer Reading programs. We hope to see you at one of our libraries soon!
