National Library Week

National Library Week 2018

National Library Week is an annual celebration organized by the American Library Association to encourage people to read and support their libraries. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the celebration and this year’s theme is “Libraries Lead.”

You can participate in National Library Week on April 8–14 at the Orange County Library System by attending special events, signing up for a library card, participating in our Instagram Photo Challenge, and sharing with us how the library has supported your interests or goals on social media using the hashtag #loveocls.


Celebrate National Library Week with WonderWorks!
All Locations: April 8–14
Celebrate National Library Card week with a free ticket to WonderWorks! Any Orange County resident that signs up for a new library card during National Library Week (April 8–14, 2018) will receive a ticket for free admission to WonderWorks.

This promotion is open to all ages during the week of April 8–14, 2018. While supplies last. Offer valid for in-person, new card registration only. Offer is not valid for library card renewal. Tickets are not valid for Saturday admission to WonderWorks. Tickets expire April 2019.

The Central Florida Ballet Presents: Alice in Wonderland

Sunday, April 8, 2 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.
Join Alice on a nonsensical adventure. The Central Florida Ballet will perform scenes from their presentation of Alice in Wonderland. This performance was created through a joint collaboration between former Cirque du Soleil artists and choreographers of the Central Florida Ballet.

Did you know the hit television show Game of Thrones was inspired by fantasy novel series A Song of Fire and Ice by George R. R. Martin? In honor of National Library Week, Chef Farah Davids will recreate recipes inspired by these classic novels in a two-part, “cook your book” series. Space is limited. Registration required.

The Business of Writing Books

You wrote your book – now it’s time to share it with the world! Author Kerry Evelyn will discuss what she’s learned from her experiences with indie publishing and help you plan out and establish a timeline for setting up your business and getting your book published. A comprehensive checklist of writing, marketing and business tasks will be provided.

Memorial Day Closing
