Several reasons exist for why you may not be able to renew your items:

1. Too soon to renew. One reason might be that it is too soon to renew the item. You must wait at least one day before renewing the first time. You can renew a second time after the first check-out period is at an end.
2. Hold is placed on the item. If someone else has placed a hold on the item you have checked-out, you will not be able to renew the item.
3. You owe too much money. If your fines exceed $10.00, you will not be able to renew or check-out any items until your fines paid.
4. Maximum renewals. You may have reached the maximum number of renewals allowed on the item. You can renew an item five times.
